By now, everyone should know that the people over at Rockstar Games always create mind-blowing games: the Grand Theft Auto Series, Red Dead Redemption, to name a couple.
Max Payne 3 is no exception.
Before we begin, lets take it back and have a quick insight into the first two games.
After using the standard Xbox 360 headset for about 6 years now, I decided it was well and truly time to upgrade my gaming headset. Having recently got a PS3 as well, I decided that I could not play online on the PS3 using my O2 bluetooth jabra headset as it was, in a nut-shell, complete garbage.
Anyway, after reading several reviews of different headsets and coming to the conclusion that a) I wasn’t going to spend £100+ on pair and b) they had to be universal – I decided to pick up a pair of the Tritton AX180’s.
Retail they sell for around £45 (Amazon, Game and Tesco), depending on where you purchase them, but I got these for a cool £30 in the end using some reward points.
Firstly, before I get started with the main post. I just want to say I hope you all had a very merry Christmas yesterday and I wish you all the best for 2012 when it arrives. It’s been a very busy month for me, with an increase in hours at work and trying to sort things out for Christmas, free-time has been very hard to find lately. As a result of this, I have been a tad AWOL and I will try posting a lot of new stuff when I get the chance. Right, back on topic and please excuse my crappy Blackberry phone camera (it sucks !)…
After using a 22″ BenQ monitor for most of my gaming needs over the last 2-3 years, I have finally upgraded to something a little bigger and better. Due to working quite a lot this month and the fact I’ve been wanting to buy myself a nice flatscreen TV for a good while now, I took the plunge and upgraded my 22″ monitor to this…
The LG 42LW650T: A 42″, full HD 1080p, cinema 3D, LEDplus TV (so glad there isn’t anymore D’s, B’s, P’s or HD’s involved in the description: ”Yeah I got a..wait for it… a 42 inch full 1080p, HD, 3D, LED, Freeview HD, MP3, USB, DVD, TV” – you get the idea).
But wait theres plenty more…
As you may already be aware, Microsoft are updating the Xbox 36o dashboard tomorrow on the 6th of December. So we can pretty much all kiss goodbye to the old and welcome the brand new, totally revamped dashboard.
Microsoft have not confirmed an exact time for its release yet, but have confirmed it will be released at some point tomorrow. Everyone can expect an update as soon as you sign into Xbox Live, once the dashboard update is available.
The update brings a whole new look to the dashboard, having close similarities to the Metro design of Windows 8 and Windows 7 smartphones.
There will also be new streaming applications available for LOVEFiLM, 4OD and 5 on Demand and it will be possible to save games using the new cloud saving support function. Plus a lot more.
I will update this post tomorrow once I check the new dash out, but if you simply cannot wait that long, then I suggest reading through this in-depth review from Engadget, who cover a lot of areas of the new dashboard update in great detail.
If your an Xbox 360 user and download the new dashboard update tomorrow. Let me know what you think of it in the comments section below.
The last couple of months has seen a few big-title game releases across many platforms. Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, COD: MW3, Uncharted 3 and of course The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to name a few.
Whilst I’ve been trying to play most of them evenly (apart from Uncharted 3 as I don’t own a PS3), it has been quite a difficult task due to starting my new job. Serves me right for splashing out on all 4 games on the day each of them were released, but hey, at least I won’t have to buy any more games for quite some time now.
Anyway back to MW3. Due to buying Battlefield 3 a few days before hand I originally wasn’t going to pick up call of duty MW3 until after Christmas, but I did anyway. Just to clarify as well, this is no Battlefield fanboy bashing MW3. I own all the COD’s on the Xbox 360 (COD 4, WaW, MW2, BlackOps and MW3), the original Call of Duty on the PC and I also own Battlefield BC2/Vietnam and BF3.
Whilst I have only played the first mission in the MW3 campaign, I’ve tallied up around 8-9 hours of online multiplayer. Moral of the story, I’ve not really spent that much time with it, so MW3 may get better with time. The latter 5 words pretty much summing up what this article is going to relate to…
Happy Halloween Everyone.
Since we’re a tad ‘old’ to go trick or treating now and our Halloween party was on Friday past (bit strange I know, but true), iTech will be slicing into a bunch of Xbox 360 & PS2 games (with the lights off and the sound up loud of course) and watching some classic horror movies later on tonight.
Whilst I wouldn’t class the games as super scary, they certainly do fit the Halloween picture nicely. Condemned 2 definitely has its fair share of ‘heart-attack’ moments and Silent Hill 2 never fails to send shivers down my spine.
The games we have lined up so far are:
- Condemned 2
- Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
- Left 4 Dead (co-op)
- Resident Evil 5 (co-op)
Afterwards-if we’re still alive of course-we’ll be indulging in some Ouija board antics and settling down to watch the classic 1982 horror movie from Jon Carpenter, The Thing !
If you have any plans for Halloween yourself let me know what your up to in the comments section below.
Hope you all have a good Halloween and take care, you never know whats lurking round the next corner !
With over 2 millions votes cast across various different categories, the organisers-and folk over at the Guinness World Records-claim this to be the biggest video games award ceremony on the planet.
This was the Golden Joystick Awards 29th Ceremony and it was Valve’s Portal 2 that was crowned ‘ultimate game of the year’ – beating the likes of LA Noire, Call Of Duty: Black Ops and Gran Turismo 5 to the top spot.
No game was awarded more than one award this time, but check out this list below to see the winners of each category.
Just when I thought I couldn’t get anymore impatient to get my hands on this game, they release a brand new trailer of some sweet looking multiplayer action.
The video pretty much includes everything that we expect from a battlefield game: loads of vehicles, explosions, jets, helicopters, mass destruction, new maps and BASE jumping…
Yes, BASE jumping ! I shall say no more, just watch the video (courtesy of Battlefield on YouTube) below to see for yourself.
There hasn’t been an awful lot of media released about IO interactive’s fifth installment of the Hitman series, Hitman: Absolution.
Being a big fan of Hitman personally, I’ve been searching high and low to find out any new details of the game that is due for release sometime in 2012.
So im pretty glad I can now share with you (courtesy of the bald man himself) a 16 minute video showing you actual gameplay of Agent47 taking refuge in an abandoned library somewhere in Chicago.
The video shows off many new gameplay elements, including IO Interactive’s new Glacier 2 engine. As well as this, you will of course witness some of Agent47’s new/old tricks – such as changing into his dead victims clothes, eating chocolate donuts and also crashing the party at a hippie, weed infested flat.
Sit back and Enjoy…
