Sony Offers To ‘saftey check’ Sony Bravia TV Sets – Due To Potential Component Overheating Risks
The company has said that many consumer models could be faulty and in rare cases could potentially overheat creating a possible fire risk. So far all of the overheating reports have come solely from Japan and none from Europe or the US yet.
The eight models of LCD TV that could have this faulty component are: KDL-40D3400, KDL-40D3500, KDL-40D3550, KDL-40D3660, KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40X3000 and KDL-40X3500
These units were manufactured in 2007 and 2008 and Sony has urged if anyone experiences any abnormal noises, smells or smoke from the units, to turn the unit off immediately – as this will prevent further damage.
Consumers should check the label on the back of their TV to check if they have any of the models listed above.
The tech firm also pointed out that customers who have purchased faulty models, can take them to their local Sony Center store (or have an engineer came round to the house) for a free inspection and also free repair if needed !
